NYX Matte Lipstick Review & Swatches (Shy, Temptress, Street Cred, Eden, Aria, Siren)
Today I have a few NYX Matte Lipsticks to share with you. I received the all of the new 2014 shades, but decided to only keep a few, because I don't need that many lipsticks! I decided to try out 6 shades:
- Shy (true nude)
- Temptress (neutral pink)
- Street Cred (raspberry pink)
- Eden ( bright blue based red)
- Aria (violet)
- Siren (deep violet)
All of these shades are quite pigmented in just a single swipe. These lipsticks are really matte in both color and finish, so if you prefer a more glossy looking lipstick, these aren't for you! This line has primarily nudes (for all skin tones), pinks, reds, plums, and vampy shades. There isn't a true orange color, just a coral and orange-red shade. The first shade, Shy, is a very light nude. I find that because this shade is so light, it highlights all imperfections in the lips. I wouldn't wear this shade on it's own, personally, but I'm sure some ladies could make it work! Temptress is a very wearable shade. It's a pretty neutral peachy-pink. This one does highlight some imperfections when close up, but it looks fine otherwise. It reminds me a bit of Athens Soft Matte Lip Cream, but I think it looks nicer on the lips.Street Cred is a nice raspberry shade- it's a fun pop of color! I like that it is bright, but not too bright. I think this would look amazing with fairer skin tones.Eden is a blue-based red. It's nice, but I'm not a huge red wearer, besides during the holidays. It is nicely pigmented, and I don't have many matte reds, so it is nice to have. It reminds me of Smashbox Infrared, but a lot less expensive! If red is your color, check this one out!Aria is a lot lighter than I thought it would be. I expected a deeper shade, but when applied it is a bright orchid purple shade. Because orchid is the color of the year, I think this one will be fun to wear this spring!Siren is a burgundy shade, I thought it would be darker at first, but is just your basic deep red. I tend to lean towards darker burgundies, personally, but if you haven't tried burgundy lips yet, check this one out! I wore this one recently, applied in a thin layer, and it lasted for 4 hours. I didn't eat anything during that time, though. But, I don't think these will last through eating...not many products do!I do think these matte lipsticks are worth checking out if you want an affordable matte lip. I personally prefer the Soft Matte Lip Creams, but these are a lot more comfortable on the lips & are better for beginners. As far as my picks? Aria & Siren for bold lip lovers, Temptress for neutral loving ladies. I love NYX because of their affordable price tag, because you can't find truly matte lip products everywhere, especially at the drug store for only $6!**This post contains products that I have received for free– for more information, please read my Disclosure Policy**
