Jessica Cosmetics "A Night At The Opera" Fall 2013 Nail Polish Collection Review & Swatches

Jessica Cosmetics A Night At The Opera Fall 2013 Collection ReviewCan you believe it's time for fall collections already? I certainly can't! A week or so ago, I got a lovely surprise package from Jessica Cosmetics, including their new fall collection, "A Night At The Opera," which is comprised of 6 "diva-esque" fall colors. Let's take a peek! And did I mention...all of the following swatches are only using one coat?!Jessica Cosmetics A Night At The Opera Fall 2013 Collection Velvet & Pearls Swatch ReviewVelvet & Pearls is described as a "brand new definition of black," but to me, it's just a black. While I'm not a big fan of having a black in a limited edition collection, it has a stellar formula. You could easily get away with a single coat, like I used, but 2 coats will make it flawless. I love the shine this one has. I rarely wear black on it's own, but I will have to rock this shade in the coming months...I think it'd be amazing with some nail art.Jessica Cosmetics A Night At The Opera Fall 2013 Collection Blue Aria Swatch ReviewBlue Aria is a stunning indigo shade that I've fallen in love with. This one will need a 2 coats, as I see a bit of streaking in my one coat application. And forgive me for that dreaded dry cuticle...I made the dumb decision to use acetone before applying and didn't notice it until it came to photoshopping...Anyways, back on topic- I love the name of this shade. It reminds me of my fave Pretty Little Liar. I can't wait for the weather to cool down so I can wear this!Jessica Cosmetics A Night At The Opera Fall 2013 Collection Standing Ovation Swatch ReviewStanding Ovation may look like a stunning duochrome in the bottle, but this "glowing green" is a streaky mess for me. Not a fan at all. I love olive shades in the fall, but I probably won't be using this one since it's so streaky. I'll have to try it with a matte top coat, because sometimes that will fix it! I expected this to be the hero of the collection, but it was definitely a flop for me...I'm not giving this one a Standing Ovation!Jessica Cosmetics A Night At The Opera Fall 2013 Collection Prima Donna Swatch ReviewPrima Donna was a shade I wasn't too excited about, as it looked like a plain shimmery purple in the bottle. Once applied, you can see the dimension it has. Prima Donna has both pink and blue shimmer inside of the purple base, making this one mesmerizing shade. This one is definitely reminiscent of a galaxy! I'd do 2 coats on this one, even though my single coat didn't have streaking issues, I think it will just add some extra glitz.Jessica Cosmetics A Night At The Opera Fall 2013 Collection Opening Night Swatch ReviewOpening Night is a flirty fuchsia shade. It has the same sparkle that Prima Donna has, making it a bit of a duochrome. This one looks lackluster in the bottle, but once applied it's nice. I am not crazy for shimmery shades, but I'll have to wear this one again! It didn't have the best formula, though, it would definitely need 2 coats to cover the bare spots.Jessica Cosmetics A Night At The Opera Fall 2013 Collection Overture Swatch ReviewAnd last but not least, Overture, an iridescent copper. I wouldn't consider myself a fan of shimmery orange shades, although I love just about any other orange...but this one surprised me. This polish is a mix of red, orange, and gold shimmer that instantly reminded me of fire. If Katniss Everdeen wore nail polish, this would be it!Overall I think this collection is nice, it has a little bit of everything...although I'm always craving more cream shades. If you're a microshimmer lover, pick this line up! The only con is that Jessica isn't available in many places, but the formula is amazing (opaque, shiny, long lasting) and only costs $8.40 a bottle.Β  It will be available in September, so keep an eye out on jessicacosmetics.com!Olivia Frescura Blog Signature**This post contains products that I have received for free– for more information, please read my Disclosure Policy**
